Hwang spearheads attack in U-23 Asian Cup qualifier first leg
Heo Yul (Guangzhou) leads the attack for Korea’s first match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Hwang Sun-hong’s Olympic football team will face Qatar in their first Group B match of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers on Saturday at the Changwon Football Center.
With Heo Yul up front, the midfield will feature Uhm Ji Sung (Gwangju), Lee Jin Young (Daegu), Jeon Byung Kwan (Daejeon), Oh Jae Hyuk (Jeonbuk), and Kang Hyun Mook (Gimcheon).
In defense, Lee Tae-seok (Seoul), Cho Sung-kwon (Gimpo), Cho Woo-je (Busan), and Min Kyung-hyun (Incheon) will start.
Baek Jong-beom (Seoul) will wear the goalkeeping gloves.
Overseas players such as forward Jung Sang-bin (Minnesota) and midfielder Kwon Hyuk-kyu (Celtic) will start from the bench.

South Korea’s first opponent in the qualifiers, Qatar, will automatically qualify for next year’s tournament as hosts.
