The Pohang Steelers have reacquired striker Hong Yun-sang, who left for Wolfsburg in Germany. He will wear the number 37.

Hong Yun-sang is a ‘Sungol Youth’ who went through the Pohang Steelers’ youth system from Pohang Iron & Steel Dongcho, Pohang Iron & Steel Middle, and Pohang Iron & Steel High. He participated in the U-17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019, and in 2020, he led the Pohang Steelers U-18 team to the title at the K League Youth Championship, winning the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.

After joining the Pohang Steelers out of high school in 2021, Hong Yun-sang was sent on loan to Wolfsburg in Germany shortly after joining. After moving to Wolfsburg permanently that summer, Hong gained experience on loan to St. Pölten in Austria and Nuremberg in Germany.

Hong’s strength is his dribbling, where he uses his speed to take away the tempo of his opponents. He is also very decisive in front of goal, making him a force to be reckoned with in the center of the field as well as on the flanks.

With the addition of Hong Yun-sang, who is also a U-22 resource, Pohang will have more options in attack.
